The woman who objected to being likened to a prostitute, Sandra Fluke, sells herself to highest bidder

Contraception activist Sandra Fluke is having her “services” auctioned off .  The highest bidder will win a “strategy session” with Fluke to harness the tools of activism to help promote whatever agenda you need.  Fluke is captalizing  on her recent “person of the year” nomination by Time magazine as a hot commodity in an effort to raise money.  The auction has been up for a few days now, and as of last night, the bid was still at $110 for the hour long pow wow.

Given her current capacity to draw literally tens of people, I’d be curious how much the lucky winner believes an hour of “services” from Fluke is actually worth.

From the Auction item description:

Got a fantastic idea for a campaign but not sure where to start? Wondering how you can use the tools of activism to make your project the most effective it can be? Social justice advocate Sandra Fluke will help you harness the power of activism and/or advocacy with this strategy session. You bring the expertise on your issue, and Sandra will bring her sharp strategic mind and national experience.

From the beginning, Sandra Fluke has devoted her career to public interest advocacy. She came to national attention in February, 2012, when Congressional Republicans prohibited her from testifying, instead hearing from a panel of men on a question of women’s health. She then testified before the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee on the need for women’s own private insurance to cover contraception. Despite personal attacks, she has since spoken about this and other issues of concern to women and young people across news outlets, and has addressed the Democratic National Convention. Currently, she serves as a surrogate for the President in his reelection campaign, and speaks to audiences across the country. Her work has been honored by the American Federation of Teachers, American Constitution Society, Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, National Partnership for Women and Families, NOW, Women’s Campaign Fund, and others.

In 2003, Fluke received a B.S. from Cornell University in Policy Analysis and Management, as well as Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California, with her fiancé, Adam, and their dog, Mr. President.

  1. “The woman who objected to being likened to a prostitute, Sandra Fluke, sells herself to highest bidder…”

In other words, she’s working for pay? Shocking!

  2. We should bid, John. We should bid, win, and discuss with her the best strategy to keep leftwing blowhards advocating utter nonsense from speaking to our Congress, thereby cheapening the institution.

That was the first thing I thought of. But then I read the description more closely. It says up to an hour. We’d ask her one question like that and hang up and technically she fulfilled her obligation.

However we could contact big name shows, like Hannity or OReilly and have them there and craft the questions. That might be worth it!

Any Thoughts?
