Sequestration cuts will cut deep

Despite the reality that President Barack Obama is being untruthful about the Republican’s role in the sequestration budget cuts (the cuts were his idea and insisted on them), they will have a nasty effect on government (List via Nuking Politics):

  • Biden will have to pay for his own hair plug maintenance and resort to home-whitening his teeth with Clorox.
  • Menendez will have to switch to cheaper, local escorts.
  • All federal employees will have their hours cut back to 30 hours to avoid Obamacare costs.
  • Obama will have to sell off his backup teleprompters.
  • Due to lack of funding, communities will become woefully unorganized.
  • Sandra Fluke will still have to provide her own birth control, should a man ever find her desirable.
  • Construction of the shovel-ready project, The Obama Memorial White House Putt Putt Golf Course, will have to be put on hold.
  • The Obama National Library will never be built. Instead, the entire collection will be made available in ebook format. The file contains everything Obama has ever read, comprised of his speeches, the Quran and the collected works of Saul Alinsky.
  • Michelle will no longer be able to afford arugula, whatever that is.
  • No more wasting skeet. If the Obama’s hunt the clay pigeons, they have to eat them.
  • All members of Congress will have to be replaced with lower cost undocumented workers. Maybe they will be able to do the jobs that American Congressmen are unwilling to do.
  • Government officials will need to upwardly adjust their bribe thresholds.
  • Deep cuts to the military will be made to ensure anticipated increased funding for PBS, NPR and the NEA.Unable to afford hookers and booze, secret service members will have to entertain themselves with the loneliest game ever: Strip Solitaire.

But in all seriousness, I find the impending doomsday claims made by the President to be suspect.  The sequestration cuts only comprise about 2.4% of the federal budget.  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure the government could spare 2.4% of the budget without all hell breaking loose.  I’m also pretty sure the President knows this too, which is why he went golfing this past week with Tiger Woods.

Either the Apocalyptic talk is BS — that Democrats know to be BS — or this government is so fragile that 2.4% in spending cuts will wreak such havoc that we’re doomed soon enough eventually anyway.

  1. “Fiscal Cliff” and “Sequestration Cuts” get a lot of media attention while the increase in our Social security contribution in our payechecks went back into affect without much hoopla. The increase was one of the most recent, direct and significant impact to Americans.

  2. The fact that the sequester was P-BO’s idea somehow gets missed when you see news reports on this thing. It’s actually pretty impressive to propose a “solution” insist that it be incorporated, then blame your opponents., What’s more impressive than having the cojones to try this, it that hardly anyone is calling him on this. Normally when Bob Woodward speaks people treat it is gospel, but not this time.

You left out the fact that although the Dems talk a good game about eliminating waste fraud and abuse, when it comes to this, they are intentionally targeting the cuts to cause the most harm to people in order to gain politically. Just sleazy.

Also, technically, there are NO (zip, zero, nada, not one) budget cuts from the sequester. Why, because the Harry Reid (D, Nevada) led Senate, has chosen to abdicate their responsibility to actually pass a budget for the last four years. No budget, no budget cuts. Of course when the next CR comes up in a month or so we’ll see all the Dems (and more GOP’ers that we should) start trying to restore the funds cut in the sequester.

I have a suggestion for the first 537 jobs to be cut.

Any Thoughts?
