In case you haven’t heard, a seven year-old Maryland boy was suspended for two days after he chomped his Pop Tart into the rough outline of a gun. *gasp* Well, the madness doesn’t stop there. School officials have since contacted parents of children to offer grief counselling if necessary. Two things to keep in mind: 1) the seven year-old threatened no one and, 2) it was a freakin Pop Tart.

I hate to say ‘it never ceases to amaze me…’ because I am becoming less amazed at the crisis-minded Liberal reaction to non-issues. I mean, it’s a Pop Tart. But hey, we can’t be too careful.

What is this? It’s so common. Kids everywhere are being suspended for finger guns, pop tarts. What’s the game? Is it really just an effort to “do something”? Or is it part of a larger plan? Who gains from this over reaction?
Liberals want to micromanage society, right down to the most mundane. It is an inevitable result of voting for Democrats.
At least the Pop Tart appears to have a trigger lock.
This is why every sane person should take their children out of the government school system.
The precedent of a child killing another child with a real gun exists.
That was a pop tart fake gun but, what if this child takes the distracted parent’s real gun and uses it?
Won’t you show any reaction and therefore teaching the child that aiming at someone isn’t bad?
I think there is overreaction in this case, but I prefer it to utterly indifference.

Its not a fake gun, it was a pastry. A real pastry. I’m surprised that someone would conclude that because a rare event like a child getting g a real gun might happen, we should punish kids who bite their pastry the wrong way.

It seems the kid didn’t limited to bite the pastry the wrong way but also used the pastry as a fake gun. If the child used it as a simulated gun then it is a fake gun disregarding what it is in reality.
Isu prefers this to indifference. No kidding. But are these the only two options? And is utter indifference the current alternative? Who’s being utterly indifferent? Had I been in the room, I probably would have said something like, “Dude, seriously? A gun in school? Please, don’t play guns in school”. Would that not be preferable to utter indifference as well?
And is there some extreme reaction that would not be preferable to utter indifference? How about a month in solitary? How about five lashes on the back? Would utter indifference not be preferable to either of those over-reactions?
It’s statements like Isu’s that make me think he prefers this reaction to any other available, more tempered one, though he pretends to agree that it was too harsh.
I suppose a bad idea is better than no idea, when the “do something” mentality creeps in.
I prefer utter indifference to utter asininity.
It’s funny how most of the comments are overreacting just as bad as the teacher did. I’d go as far as to say wanting to pull your kids out of, “the government school system” as Glen said, is an even bigger over reaction.

No, it is not an over-reaction. This is just another example of the crap that goes on in school. We hear of these incidents of “zero tolerance” policies every week. Kids in the public system have been forced to say the pledge of allegiance in Spanish, have been forced to dress as Muslims, forced to celebrate Islamic holidays, force-fed the homosexual agenda, force-fed the evolution agenda, force-fed the abortion agenda, force-fed the whole sex-education (“use a condom and have fun”) agenda, etc, etc, etc. The government system is an ungodly propaganda tool of the LEFT.
WELL THEY HAVE TO REMOVE RUBBER bands this can be shot at someone. paper clips they can be made into something to hurt someone. finger guns cut off there fingers.
Books for they teach kids to throw books at someone bad so books have to be removed.
