The Political Left is doing all it can to avoid what is obvious to everyone else.
(Think Progress) — Could the amateur boxing career of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the deceased suspect in last week’s Boston Marathon bombings, have had a role in the massacre? That’s a question leading brain researchers at Boston University’s School of Medicine hope medical examiners look into when they perform an autopsy of the 26-year-old who was killed during a firefight with law enforcement officials early Friday morning.
Tsarnaev was a champion boxer who qualified for the national Golden Gloves competition and had once had dreams of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team. That abbreviated career has led Drs. Robert Cantu and Robert Stern to urge examiners to study his brain for signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), the degenerative brain disease found in boxers since the 1920s that has received renewed attention because it was found in the brains of former football players. Though both doctors doubt that CTE caused the behavior that led to the bombings, researchers shouldn’t overlook the chance to study Tsarnaev’s brain, they told the Boston Globe.
Boxing? What should we conclude when Think Progress speculates that CTEs could play a role despite the researchers cited within their article saying otherwise? Do CTEs only cause Muslim boxers to detonate bombs?
Why do Muslims get the benefit of the doubt from the Political Left especially in the face of the younger bomber admitting Islam motivated the attack? Is there anyone who could reasonably argue that that same benefit would be given if the perpetrators were associated with the Political Right, or *hiss* the TEA Party? C’mon, they’re not even trying to hide their bias any longer.
Could it be that political correctness is more important than the truth? The truth that, though not all Muslims are terrorists, but virtually all terrorists are Muslim. Living in America we are sheltered by the media. Unless people search for news outside the main news outlets you wont likely hear about the terror committed by Muslims in other parts world, there are thousands of victims around the globe who suffer at the hand of jihad.
At what point can we admit it’s not a coincidence?
From Dan Trabue:
“So?” what?
Yes, there HAVE been Muslims (or at least people claiming Islam as their religion) who’ve killed people. Is that your point?
Or, are you suggesting that Muslims are the ONLY ones from faith groups who kill people? Of course, that’s not true.
You recognize we could run down a list of “This Christian killed these people…” “That Christian killed these people…” etc. Would that mean that we should hold all Christians accountable?
Of course not.
So, what IS your point? That Muslims as a whole are predisposed to commit acts of violence? 98% (or whatever the number is) of peaceable Muslims would demonstrate that to be a lie.
So what IS your point?
“It’s not a coincidence” that some tiny minority of Muslims (and Christians and Jews and pagans) commit crimes? What is it if not a coincidence?
According to studies…
And within America, the states with the highest murder rates tend to be highly religious, such as Louisiana and Alabama, but the states with the lowest murder rates tend to be among the least religious in the country…
…only 0.2 percent of prisoners in the USA are atheists – a major under- representation.

Does that mean we should conclude it’s “not a coincidence that murderers tend to be religious people?” Your suggestion is intellectually and morally bankrupt.
Care to reconsider?
No I don’t care to reconsider because every bit of common sense says that when the vast majority of terrorists commit terror IN THE NAME OF ISLAM its fair to conclude that there may be something to that and to not brush it off as some conspiratorial coincidence.
True followers of Islam will indeed do their best to take over the world for Islam. History shows that every where Islam has gone, violence and extermination of non-Muslims follows. Around the world every Muslim nation murders – under the law – those who disagree with Islam. Jews especially have historically been their targets, which is why they want Israel eradicated. The vast majority of terrorist attacks world-wide are committed by Muslims. HELLO!!!!
Dan,
Nobody is suggesting that Jews, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists are incapable of murder. It’s rather silly of you to infer such a thing from this post. Of course Christians murder, but are they murdering because they are Christian? 99.9999% of the time, the answer is no. Are Christians responsible for the vast majority of terrorist attacks? No.
However, the Tsarnaev Brothers bombed the marathon BECAUSE THEY ARE Muslim. They killed those people in the name of Allah – and the younger brother admitted it. In fact, over 20,000 terror attacks have been done in the name of Allah since 9-11. Not exactly a nuance.
At a certain point, liberals must face the truth about the so-called Religion of Peace, and stop searching in vain for something with which to remove Islam’s culpability. If you care about innocent life, then be honest and recognize that their is an element to the religion of Islam that is inherently violent and inherently evil.
Basically, if you care about innocent life, you’ll stop this PC bullsh*t.
I was a state champion in wrestling in high school. I competed in boxing and MMA for three years during college. I had matches around the Southeast and defeated two Golden Glove champions. I was hit in the head more times than I care to remember.
Having said all this: I have no desire to commit any acts of terrorism and I know exactly ZERO boxers that I would label as a potential terrorist.
Terrance…
then be honest and recognize that their is an element to the religion of Islam that is inherently violent and inherently evil.
99.9999% of devout, faithful Muslims would disagree with you.
So, if MUSLIMS say, “Wait, THIS guy doesn’t represent us!” then is it “being honest” to say, “Yes he does,” while at the same time insisting that Christian killers don’t represent Christianity?
Yes, by all means, be honest.
There is an element OF HUMANITY that is inherently violent and evil, but Muslims are not unique in that and it is dishonest BS to suggest otherwise.
~Dan Trabue
Trabue demonstrates his total ignorance of Islam. PERIOD.
By all means, let us leave aside the teachings of the Koran, and the history of the expansion of Islam in our attempt to be 21st century PC.
I don’t think so. 99.9999% of devout, faithful Muslims don’t condemn the extremist bunch. It’s approval by silence. Go to the CAIR website and look for anything that condemns radical Islam. I’ll wait.
Didn’t find anything? Exactly.
You must be learning impaired. There is quite a difference between a Jew, Christian, and Hindu doing a random killing that has absolutely nothing to do with their religion, and then a Muslim killing people because of his religion.
The Qu’ran calls for war on the unbeliever.
One doesn’t have to say that all Muslims are evil to tell the truth about Islamic terror.
Here’s the truth:
There are Muslim groups (Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) whose interpretation of Islam (whether right or wrong) guides them to commit acts of terror, mass murder, and genocide around the world.
Anyone take issue with that statement? I think that’s about as honestly as it can be stated.
There’s an easy way to determine whether perpetrators of attacks like the marathon bombing, Ft. Hood, 9-11, are indeed of that mindset: they’ll TELL YOU they are.
Rather than taking them at their word, liberals resort to “Yeah, but what else could explain why they do it?”, as if each attack has nothing to do with any other. Are they not looking for a link? I think they are. After all, this very post is about a search for a reason. The problem is that when you remove the one link that’s staring you in the face, we’re left with boxing, workplace stress, and I suppose airplane/building collision enthusiasm.
Look at how Dan is acting. It’s clear that he doesn’t want to say that all Muslims are evil. Good for him. Neither do I. I’m here to tell you that saying “There are Muslim groups whose interpretation of Islam guides them to commit acts of terror, mass murder, and genocide around the world” IS NOT to say that ALL muslims are evil.
We have to see the link. Willfully ignoring it is suicidal.
I think the problem with our society is that we don’t know how to live in balance. So balance would say: “It’s not true that most muslims are terrorists but it is true that most terrorists are muslims.” That’s not my opinion but a statistical fact. What our American society is trying to do is err on the side of fairness and non-prejudice because many people will live like “most muslims are terrorists”. Many people won’t be able to give each muslim they meet a chance to discern if they are a terrorists or not, they’ll assume terrorism and the muslim would have to prove themselves otherwise.
What you have to remember is this:
Most people in the world who claim to be Christians are either cults or secular Christians, meaning they really have no clue about their professed faith but are Christian in name only.
In the same way, most of the world’s Muslims are secular Muslims who have no clue as to what their faith teaches, and often are only Muslims because where they live they either proclaim Islam or are killed!
Therefore, those who are true Christians will follow their holy book to the best of their ability, and it would be a rare occurrence for one to commit or support any terrorist act; while those who are true Muslims will follow their holy book to the best of their ability and will in some way either commit or support terrorist acts.
LOL. John, I actually didn’t read this which you wrote before I did my comment: ” The truth that, though not all Muslims are terrorists, but virtually all terrorists are Muslim”
I think youre right Zanspence
If something isn’t frozen, it isn’t cold, seems to be Dan’s philosophy.
T
That’s a very apt analogical summary.
It’s really very sad that anyone would fear speaking plainly about this issue, trying to make some kind of comparison between islamic terrorism and similar acts by some who might lean toward a Judeo-Christian background, as if there is no distinction between them. It is this kind of willful ignorance that makes solutions difficult to create.
